“The most important thing is how he feels,” Collins said. “We’ve seen it in the past; a lot of times, it’s harder to get motivated when your sights are the major leagues. If he feels good, feels the ball came out good, then I think that is the most important thing right now.”

Harvey hopes to get back and get five starts before the end of the season. to get his velocity back early in spring training. The Mets found that the muscles in the back of his right shoulder had atrophied, causing the issue. He has been on the disabled list since June 16. ith Harvey heading into the final of team control, he knows that he has a limited amount of time to prove that he can get past two major surgeries over the last four years and back to the promise he showed in 2013 and 2015. “I understand my situation here,” Harvey said. “I know that I haven’t pitched well. I know that I caused some distractio­ns. “I am not proud of that, but I can’t do anything about it except try and move forward. I feel good, I haven’t felt this good (on the mound) since 2015 and I am excited to get back. “I know I have to prove myself again,” Harvey added, “and I am ready to go out there and do that again.”
