New slap at Bill tax plan

- Kenneth Lovett

ALBANY — Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie threw more cold water on Mayor de Blasio’s proposal to hike taxes on the wealthy to help pay for upgrades to the city’s crumbling mass transit system.

Heastie (D-Bronx) said during an appearance Wednesday night on NY1 that his Democratic members actually support raising taxes on the rich, but want to spread out the revenue it generates.

“For those of us in the Assembly, we’ve always supported asking for those that have a little more to do a little more, but we’d like that to be able to go across the board for things that we need, health care, education,” he said.

Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan (R-Suffolk County) has already dubbed the mayor’s plan dead on arrival in his chamber.
