If it’s your birthday

- FRI., SEPT. 1 - SUN., SEPT 3. ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING RULES ARE SUSPENDED FRIDAY AND SATURDAY FOR EID AL-ADHA The Electric Zoo music festival will bring nearly 100,000 people to Randall’s Island from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, and 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. on S

SAM It’ll be a zoo out there on the roads this weekend! The Electric Zoo music festival tops the traffic bill but we also have Friday’s Labor Day weekend getaway traffic, the detested Boston Red Sox invading Yankee Stadium and the US Open in Flushing.

There is no parking at the festival, so attendees who go by car will be dropped off (meaning twice as many cars for drop-off and pick-up), causing RFK Bridge jams to and from the island, and impacting the FDR/Harlem River Drive in Manhattan, the Bruckner in the Bronx, and the GCP in Queens. The best way to get there will be by ferry from the E. 35th St. terminus at the FDR, or by free bus shuttle from Wythe Ave. at N. 12th St. in Brooklyn, or by walking from 124th St. and 2nd Ave. onto the RFK bridge’s walkway.

If you’re making your exodus through the Bronx stay away from the Major Deegan and Cross-Bronx.

Labor Day vacationers will begin their escape around 2 p.m. Friday continuing through rush hour, causing the biggest jams at the George Washington, There’s no use keeping secrets from yourself. It’s not even possible, though you really do need to know whatever it might be you would try to tuck away — and you’re about to find out. What exactly? We’re talking about the discovery of what you want. This is more like an admission to yourself, which will have a way of setting you free. You share a birthday with Barry Gibb, Lily Tomlin and Gloria Estefan. MARCH 21-APRIL 19 Sometimes to make the right decision on a business or professional matter, you must act alone, and often against the opinions of close associates. There are certain things where you’re simply the best judge. Just make sure you get those other viewpoints first, and consider them carefully. APRIL 20-MAY 20 As you’re seeing, you must take some risks to experience yourself as fully alive. It’s too easy to stick to your routines, get the occasional minor thrill and persist in the life you know. It’s only slightly more challenging to think an original thought or to try something you’ve never considered before. MAY 21-JUNE 20 Over the next few days, your ruling planet Mercury changes direction; this happens when the retrograde phase ends on Sept. 5. Between now and then, pay special attention to resolving past details, figuring out where your collaborators are at, and sizing up what you’ve learned in recent weeks. JUNE 21-JULY 22 If someone close to you is directing intense energy at you, you can sidestep it, or you can engage them directly. You might take the direct approach, because there’s a gift in there for you. Remember that you set the tone of your environment; that’s how potent your emotions are. JULY 23-AUG. 22 Events of the next few days will reveal just what, exactly, was going on around the time of the Aug. 21 eclipse in your birth sign. There was plenty you missed in all the whirlwind and fray. The details and the deeper layers of meaning will begin to come out; keep an open mind. AUG. 23-SEPT. 22 You’re born under one of the signs most closely associated with anxiety. The motion of Mercury and Mars this week may be stirring up your worries, though within a week you’ll figure out that everything was in your mind. There’s an important lesson in here. Don’t miss it. SEPT. 23-OCT. 22 You’re not as alone as you may feel, though you’re the one who must come out of your shell. Rather than count on people coming to you, consider being the one who makes the first move and goes to them. In the end, this is a question about allowing yourself to be vulnerable. OCT. 23-NOV. 21 Pay particular attention to your professional affairs over the next week. A diversity of aspects pick up where last month’s worldfamous eclipse left off. You have some unusual opportunities to move up in the world, and you could also make some mistakes, though they’re avoidable. NOV. 22-DEC. 21 The Sun moving through the most visible angle of your chart is encouraging you to stand out, stand tall and shine brightly. It’s also the time to take care of the details rather than leaving them to anyone else, or to chance. This will remain true. It’s your reputation. Take care of it. DEC. 22-JAN. 19 You’ll need to be careful where financial matters are concerned, particularly where partnerships or investments of any kind are involved. Above all, don’t make any snap decisions. You may have a point of view, though you’re working with incomplete information. Many variables are at play. JAN. 20-FEB. 18 Whether things are going beautifully or dismally in your relationships, everything and everyone around you is in motion. So there’s no use clinging to any one way that things are. All in all, honesty will be the best policy and you will have many opportunities to open up. Do so lovingly. FEB. 19-MARCH 20 It’s up to you to keep communication clear, both in personal and professional relationships. Through the weekend and into next week, be sure to spot misunderstandings before they go out of control. You will need to keep a wide perspective, and think for everyone else.
