Wheelchair man badly hurt

A YELLOW cab hit an elderly man in a motorized wheelchair Monday afternoon on the Upper East Side, leaving him seriously injured, authorities said.

The cab crashed into the man on Park Ave. at E. 86th St. just before 2 p.m., authorities said.

Medics took the man, whose name and age were not released, to New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell in serious condition.

Police cordoned off the cab, and the blue and black wheelchair, as officers investigated the scene Monday afternoon.

The cabbie, whose name was not immediately released, remained on the scene.

He was taken into custody for a charge unrelated to the crash, a source familiar with the incident said.
