After meeting with John Mara, Odell Beckham says only regret about dog pose was that he got a penalty. Now Giants must crack down.

MIDDLE linebacker B.J. Goodson (shin) was upgraded to limited practice participation on Wednesday after missing the Giants’ past two games and all of practice last week, but a total of six players did not practice ahead of Sunday’s visit to Tampa Bay, the most prominent being defensive end Olivier Vernon (left ankle).

Right tackle Bobby Hart (sprained right ankle), running back Orleans Darkwa (back), linebackers Jonathan Casillas (ankle/wrist) and J.T. Thomas (groin) and running back Shane Vereen (calf) also did not go. Vereen appeared to be participating before pulling up lame on an early drill.

Vernon had to sit out most of Sunday’s fourth quarter in Philadelphia, and the Eagles took advantage and ran the ball well to the left where Vernon no longer was manning the right end position. The Giants haven’t had Goodson in the middle since Week 1.

The Eagles ran the ball for a stunning 193 yards on Sunday, and the Giants defense gave up two leads and a game-winning drive with the game tied.

The good news is that corner Janoris Jenkins (ankle) was a full participant. Jenkins made two big third-down breakups Sunday in Philly but also was victimized along with Eli Apple on Carson Wentz’s huge completion just before Jake Elliott’s dagger 61-yard field goal.

EASy E IS THE MAIN TE

First round pick Evan Engram has played 147 offensive snaps at tight end through three games, compared to 61 for Rhett Ellison and four for Jerell Adams. Engram has seen 19 targets from Eli Manning, third on the team behind only Sterling Shepard (22) and Brandon Marshall (20), per Pro Football Reference. And Engram’s 13 catches also are third behind just Shepard (16) and Shane Vereen (14).

The point is the Giants have made Engram a major part of their offense, though the rookie knows he can still improve.

“I’m a room for improvement guy, and there’s definitely things I can fix,” Engram said. “I think my biggest thing is to have the offense down, study the game plan, go into the game really confident and knowing what I’m supposed to do. Small things, like when I get fatigued just honing in on details and doing the small things.”

ON GUArD

Giants guard John Jerry cost the team with a fourth-quarter delay of game penalty on Sunday by deterring an Eagles player from getting off the field — something coach Ben McAdoo said he had never seen before.

But Jerry said Wednesday it wasn’t a lack of discipline; he was just reacting reflexively to the Eagles player bumping into him on his side of the ball.

“Next time I get hit I’m just going to look instead of react,” Jerry said.
