Bx. HS stab vic to sue

- BY STEPHEN REX BROWN

THE FAMILY of a Bronx teen who barely survived a classroom stabbing plans to file a lawsuit over the switchblade attack that left his best friend dead, a lawyer said Sunday.

Relatives of Ariane LaBoy, 16, have hired attorney Matthew Blit, who said he will sue in Bronx Supreme Court over the horrifying attack last week by a bullied bisexual classmate.

“My client and his family are completely devastated by this tragedy that could have and should have been prevented,” Blit said in a statement. “Ariane LaBoy and the other children in that classroom are extremely lucky to be alive today.”

Police say Abel Cedeno, 18, stabbed Laboy (photo) and his friend, Matthew McCree, 15, Wednesday during a history class at Urban Assembly School for Wildlife Conservation.

Laboy, who was trying to defend McCree, was stabbed in the chest and emerged from a coma on Friday — only to learn that his best friend had died.

Though Laboy and McCree reportedly tossed broken pencil shards and wads of paper at Cedeno before the stabbings, cops said the pair had no previous bullying interactions with him.

“On behalf of my client and his family, I ask that you allow them to grieve and heal in private,” Blit said.

Cedeno told the Daily News last week that he didn’t mean to kill his classmate at the West Farms school.

“I guess I just snapped,” Cedeno told the Daily News in a Rikers Island interview. “I didn’t mean to kill him. I wanted to scare him.” Parents said the attack could have been prevented had metal detectors been at the school. The city put them in place the day after the killing.
