NYPD probes 3rd accusation
NYPD DETECTIVES are investigating a woman’s claims that Harvey Weinstein sexually assaulted her more than 10 years ago in Manhattan, according to a high-ranking police source.
Cops are interviewing the accuser and looking into her claims that the disgraced movie mogul committed a “forcible sex act,” the source said Sunday.
The complaint was called in to police late last week.
The NYPD is also looking to interview at least two women who have come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against Weinstein, the Daily News reported last week.
Investigators are looking into a 2004 incident with a then-aspiring actress named Lucia Evans, who accused Weinstein of forcing her to perform oral sex in his Tribeca office.
Despite a five-year statute of limitations at the time, a 2006 law removes the restriction and allows authorities to possibly pursue charges.
Evans first revealed the alleged attack to The New Yorker.
They are also delving into the 2015 allegations made by model Ambra Battilana Gutierrez that Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr.’s office decided not to prosecute.
The department’s interest in Weinstein comes as the 65-yearold has emerged as the subject of a spiraling sex-abuse scandal involving allegations from more than two dozen women, including A-list actresses Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie.
The criminal investigations into the fallen Hollywood bigwig have now extended across the Atlantic.
London cops have opened a second investigation looking into three separate sexual assault allegations made by a woman who came forward over the weekend.
Metropolitan Police officials, who previously said they’re reviewing an allegation related to an incident from the 1980s, said Sunday that “further allegations were made against the same man.”
The statement did not identify Weinstein by name, but several British publications reported that he is the subject of both inquiries.
Police said officers from the Child Abuse and Sexual Offenses Command are investigating the newly alleged assaults, which took place in Westminster in 2010 and 2011 and in Camden in 2015.
Actress Lysette Anthony revealed herself as the woman behind the 1980s allegations.
Anthony, 54, said she met Weinstein when she starred in the 1982 sci-fi film “Krull” and the two became friends.
She alleges that he raped her a few years later in her own home.
“It was pathetic, revolting,” she told The Sunday Times.
Weinstein’s downfall started with a blistering report in The New York Times on Oct. 5 and continued Tuesday with a piece in The New Yorker in which he was accused of raping three women.
Weinstein lost another highprofile member of his legal team as the seriousness of the accusations against him continue to mount.
Charles Harder, who initially threatened to sue The Times over its story on behalf of Weinstein,
