DRC EXILE OVER:

-

The Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie suspension is over and he will re-join the Giants this week, the team announced.

Rodgers-Cromartie met with head coach Ben McAdoo on Tuesday morning to discuss his status with the team, the Daily News confirmed, where it was decided he would be reinstated and return with the team for practice on Wednesday.

Rodgers-Cromartie, 31, was suspended indefinitely last week after leaving the team facility before a practice.

The veteran cornerback was told the day before that he would be inactive for the Giants’ Week 6 game against the Broncos due to incidents during the game against the Chargers and from a practice prior to that game.

Rodgers-Cromartie admitted to ESPN he “handled the situation the wrong way.”

Giants teammates, such as Jason Pierre-Paul, said they believed RodgersCromartie would be back this week, but McAdoo would not say anything until he had a conversation with his suspended corner.

Rodgers-Cromartie is in the fourth year of a five-year, $35 million contract with the Giants.

The suspension, which ultimately lasted less than one week, cost him $410,588.

In order to make room on the roster, the Giants announced that they have waived cornerback Michael Hunter, who sustained a hamstring injury on Sunday against the Broncos.

Donte Deayon, who was signed off the practice squad to replace RodgersCromartie, will remain with the team.

The Giants did not seem to miss Rodgers-Cromartie all that much for the lone game he was suspended, managing to find their first win of the season in a 23-10 victory over the Denver Broncos.

It was the best game from the Giants defense all season, actually.

The unit forced two interceptions, including a Pick-6 from Janoris Jenkins.

Eli Apple, who along with Ross Cockrell filled the role of Rodgers-Cromartie, held Broncos receivers to five catches for 38 yards on 10 targets, according to Pro Football Focus. He also broke up three passes and had a fumble recovery.

OKWARA TO IR: The Giants also placed defensive end Romeo Okwara on the injured reserve with a sprained knee.

Okwara was injured in the Week 5 loss to the Chargers. In a corresponding move, the Giants signed linebacker Nigel Harris off waivers.
