Beckham denied the Halloween treat he wanted — a trade for Dolphins’ Landry

- BY PAT LEONARD

Odell Beckham Jr. apparently is dressed up as the Giants’ new GM for Halloween. The injured Giants receiver lobbied hard on Twitter Tuesday for Jerry Reese to trade for Dolphins wide receiver Jarvis Landry, Beckham’s best friend and former LSU teammate.

Landry reportedly was on the trading block for a flailing Miami team that already dealt top running back Jay Ajayi to the Eagles on Tuesday.

“Allllll I wanna kno is where is @ God_Son80 gonna end up !!!! ,” Beckham tweeted, using Landry’s Twitter name, just prior to 11 a.m. “My brudda it’s allll possible ! Everything we ever dreamed of. #SquaaddUp.”

Beckham then retweeted a report by the Miami Herald’s Armando Salguero that Landry is available, writing: “AYYYYYYEEEE OVER HERE OVER HERE !!!! Gimme my brother back.”

Beckham followed that with a tweet using Landry's nickname: “JUUUUUIIIICEEEEE !!!!!!! ”

Unfortunately for Beckham, ESPN’s Josina Anderson then reported that the Dolphins had informed Landy they would not be trading him, so Beckham’s dreams quickly were dashed.

Landry, 24, is in the final year of his rookie deal.

The Giants are decimated at receiver with Beckham (ankle), Brandon Marshall (ankle) and Dwayne Harris (toe) out for the year and gained just 177 yards total offense in a Week 7 loss to Seattle before the bye. So adding a capable receiver isn’t out of the question.

But the Giants (1-6) are more likely to sell than buy at the deadline, and they already have a promising undersized slot receiver in 2016 second-round pick Sterling Shepard, who is working his way back from his own ankle injury, while Landry hits free agency this offseason and will be due a major raise.

BIG BLUE RE-SIGNS TAYLOR

The Giants’ first move at a hectic trade

deadline was a minor one, re-signing defensive end Devin Taylor on Tuesday and placing defensive end Nordly Capi (hamstring) on injured reserve.

Taylor, 27, who stands 6-8, 270 pounds, was in training camp with the Giants but they released him on the final cut-down day of Sept. 2.

He has played all four of his seasons with the Detroit Lions and was a free agent when the Giants re-signed him Tuesday.

Capi, 25, played four games for the Giants this season and provided energy on special teams after the Giants activated him off their practice squad on Sept. 28.

Capi hurt his hamstring in a Week 7 loss to Seattle.

He joins Romeo Okwara (sprained knee) as Giants defensive ends who have landed on IR after playing in a regular season game this fall.

On Tuesday, the Giants also signed linebacker Trevor Bates to the practice squad while releasing wide receiver Kalif Raymond.

While the Giants (1-6) started small, the first-place Eagles (7-1) went big with a blockbuster Tuesday trade for Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi in exchange for a 2018 fourth-round pick.
