After a decade apart, a Colorado family and their cat were reunited after a good Samaritan showed up with the feline, Pilot, at a veterinarian’s office battered and bruised from the California wildfires. The vet found a microchip and contacted owner Jennifer Leigh Thompson, who had moved to Colorado.

“I have no doubt that Pilot remembers me,” she said.
