Wrapping up 2017 with the Bronx’s biggest holiday event of the year

The Fordham Road Business Improvement District (BID) is getting ready to wrap up a terrific year of community and merchant engagement activities with its 13th Annual Sparkling the Heart of Fordham holiday event set for December 1 from 6-9 pm at Bryan Park (East Fordham & East Kingsbridge Roads). After a successful year of outdoor movie nights, sidewalk sales, family events and a huge street fair, the BID is continuing to draw visitors to Fordham Road with holiday sales and a very special visit from Saint Nick. The BID is pleased to announce that its 2017 Summer Film Festival was its most successful to date, with the addition of new partners and activities. The festival featured many classic films of the ‘80s and ‘90s, concluding with a screening of “Dirty Dancing “at Fordham Plaza and “The Goonies” in Bryan Park. The “Goonies” screening alone drew the attendance of nearly 150 children making slime in the middle of Fordham Road. The BID organized eight sidewalk sales this past year as well, giving participating merchants the opportunity to show off their items to the more than one hundred thou thousand shoppers who visit Fordham Road every day. The final sidewalk sale of the year will take place on Nov. Nov 25th and will be held in honor of Small Business Saturday. This particular sale will give people from all over t the Bronx a great opportunity to get a head s start on their holiday shopping. For those ""not so early" birds, the BID will continue t to make it worthwhile to shop Fordham R Road in many other ways. On December 1 1st, we will launch our annual pre-holiday d discount campaign that will allow all shopp pers to receive a 10% discount at more than 8 80 of Fordham Road’s hottest destinations b by showing either their MetroCard, a prog gram advertisement/coupon or an invitat tion to our holiday event. So with all of this in information, please make sure to come out t to the 13th Annual Sparkling the Heart of F Fordham taking place on Friday, Decemb ber 1st from 6PM-9PM at Bryan Park on E East Fordham Road and East Kingsbridge R Road. The event will feature live music and f free raffles with prizes including tickets t to sporting events, shows and attractions a across New York City. The evening will conc clude with a special visit from Santa Claus w who will pass out over 650 toys to kids. The B BID is looking forward to this year’s event.
