Bebe Rexha will be the highlight of the Daily News float in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this year. We asked the native New Yorker what we can expect to see and hear and how she usually spends the holiday.
Tell us about the song you’ll be performing on the Daily News “Big Apple” Float.
I’ll be performing “Meant To Be” which is my song with Florida Georgia Line. I’m so happy that people are reacting to this song, it was effortless to write with them and it’s a positive message about just letting life lead you where it’s meant to.
What are your usual Thanksgiving traditions? Do you spend it with family? Friends? Do you cook?
I usually spend Thanksgiving with my parents. We all help cook the turkey together, I make the mashed potatoes, my brother makes the stuffing, and we all set the table together.
What are your favorite Thanksgiving dishes? You’re from an Albanian family, do you keep it traditional American or are their special dishes on the table that reflect your heritage?
My favorite Thanksgiving dish is definitely stuffing. I also love pecan pie and my mom makes these special spinach rolls every year that are sooo delicious.
You’re from New York City, grew up here—do you have childhood memories of the parade, either in person or watching on television?
Yes it’s definitely part of our tradition! My family and I always watch the parade as we prep the turkey before it goes in the oven.
