The Southern Boulevard Business Improvement District was established to address the vital needs of local businesses and its neighborhood community. To achieve this goal, the Southern Blvd BID provides services and free events to help attract and retain new shoppers, as well as to beautify and secure the shopping district. By getting, “Busy on the Blvd”, the Southern Blvd BID hosted Salsa in the Park series in the warmer months and workshops to support our small businesses.
Southern Blvd is easily accessible by various buses and the Nos. 2, 5 and 6 trains. With over 200 stores and businesses to choose from, Southern Blvd is the perfect place to find anything from fashion to furniture, appliances, to electronics, and more. Our Salsa in the Park Concert series, where local residents enjoy the music of live bands while learning how to dance salsa and keep in shape. The Southern Blvd BID hosted one of the largest Hurricane/ Earthquake relief drives in the city this year contributing to donation of over 200 million pounds of food and water to Puerto Rico! The BID also hosted its annual Music on the Boulevard Festival to celebrate Back to School, where over 3,000 people joined in attendance and the BID gave away of over 350 back to school supplies and over 400 Free Haircuts. The spirit of giving continues on December 16th, when the Southern Boulevard BID will host its 5th Annual Winter Coat drive in partnership with Ponce Bank, through which we distribute over 800 brand-new free coats to local kids. For half a decade, the Southern Blvd has led the charge and stands solely as the only BID with a community giveback event of this magnitude.
