PAY OR TRADE OBJ

-

Odell Beckham Jr. is one of the most talented players in the NFL, but he is uncontrollable and predictably unpredictable, and his latest ‘look at me’ social media controversy while his quarterback, GM and coach all were losing their jobs is a reminder that OBJ will do what OBJ wants, and it usually will center around him.

So would Dave Gettleman, believed to be the leading contender for the Giants GM job, consider trading Beckham, 25, for a king’s ransom to restock a thin Giants roster devoid of depth due to Reese’s poor drafting (outside mainly of drafting Beckham and Landon Collins)?

Would Mara finally say, you know what, this young man isn’t going to mature and it’s best we move on?

Or is it overthinking it that the Giants would consider such a drastic move, and is the best decision just to sign Beckham to an insane extension going into the final year of his rookie deal because their offense without him has no teeth? One thing is for sure, the Giants have to be prepared for Beckham to sit out training camp without an extension since he skipped OTAs last year to put pressure on the team to start negotiations.

Moving on from Beckham would change everything.

Re-signing him would commit to everything that comes with him, the good and bad, probably for at least five or six more seasons.
