Crowbar punk beats granny

-

A 64-YEAR-OLD Bronx woman was beaten bloody with a crowbar while grappling with a burglar who stole the gold wedding band she’s worn for 43 years.

The 5-foot-tall, 100-pound victim, who asked to be identified as Nat, infuriated the attacker when she tried to pull off the mask he wore over his nose and mouth.

“I think that was my mistake,” she told the Daily News Wednesday. “That’s what made him mad.”

The fiend flew into a rage, striking her with a crowbar five or six times on the head and shattering her elbow.

“I thought, ‘If he hits me again, he will kill me for sure,’ ” Nat recalled.

The brutal assault happened 9:45 a.m. Monday at the woman’s Pelham Gardens home on Tenbroeck Ave.

Nat stepped out to move her car into the garage, and when she went back inside 15 minutes later she headed upstairs.

The intruder, who had apparently slipped inside through the kitchen window, startled her on the second-floor landing.

“When he jumped in front of me, you have no idea how it felt,” the petite grandmother said, choking back tears.

Nat screamed, but the attacker told her to shut up, covered her mouth with his hands and shoved her into a bedroom, demanding money. That’s when she grabbed his mask and he slammed her with the crowbar.

The thief , who bound her ankles with a phone cord, stole $500 and some jewelry — including her wedding band.

Nat was taken to Jacobi Hospital, where six stitches were needed to close a gash on her right eyebrow (photo). She’ll also need surgery on her arm.

Worse, she said, is the mental anguish — which included a nightmare about her assailant.

“Last night, during the night,” she said, “I saw his eyes.”
