Philly’s celebration was super

-

Westville, N.J.: Re Evan Grossman’s Feb. 6 column “It’s black & white”: You’re proliferating racism with this article. I was in Philadelphia during the party after the game, and some of the thugs and the people who were looting were black and Hispanic. Keep your hate to yourself. It’s not newsworthy. Paul Wexler Philadelphia: Re “Eagles fans upset after parade crowd size isn’t as Super as expected” (Feb. 9): I am a die-hard Giants fan and I hate the Eagles. But I live downtown and it was crazy. There were so many more people. I saw it. I wish they lost. There were at least 3 million people. Christopher Hatsis Brooklyn: Congratulations to the Eagles. Watching the game, it was obvious that they were playing to win. They knew they were the underdogs, but they still did it. Vivian Toss

Home, sweet home I

Brooklyn: I live in NYCHA’s Sheepshead Bay Houses and it would be greatly appreciated if the lobby door to the building stayed closed. There are kids looking to find trouble by tampering with our apartment doors, damaging them for no reason. Also, why don’t we have the police here at any time just to check things out? I don’t think that’s asking too much. Do you?

Home, sweet home II

Forest Hills: I would be very interested to know if NYCHA Chairwoman Shola Olatoye comes home to heat, hot water and an intact bedroom ceiling every night. I would imagine she does. Katy Morris

Was too far right

Islip, L.I.: I’ve been reading the Daily News since it was 4 cents. I was disappointed when the paper started slanting toward the right. But in the last two years The News is back on the correct left side, with the people. To reward that, I took a subscription for $25 for a year. It’s a bargain. Ed Whyte

Is too far left

Port St. Lucie, Fla.: This paper is getting so stupid to the left, that you are not American anymore.

Not keeping up with Jones

Elizabeth, N.J.: Why on Earth is the first article you see on the Daily News website about someone who claimed to have bedded Donald Trump’s daughter, “Quincy Jones claims he dated Ivanka Trump 12 years ago” (Feb. 7)? Don’t you think the news should be about the well-being of our country, the intense struggle with immigration, taxes, everything but Jones dating the daughter of our President? I’m tired of reading gossip as a huge story when I see an 11-year-old kill themselves from bullying, a kid shoots up a school, a baby freezes to death outside but your opening page is Ivanka dating Jones. No wonder the U.S.A. is going to crap. No wonder we have these issues. You focus on gossip. Get your stuff together. Report real news.

All the fine print

Rockville Centre, L.I.: I just subscribed to the NYDailyNews.com website. I am a lifelong reader. My father and grandfather worked for the Daily News a combined 100 years. I even worked at The News during college. It’s great that you finally have a competitive website, but I would like all the content that is in the print. Sports fans want the box scores! You know that because you have been publishing them since the first day the presses rolled. I don’t want to have to go to nba.com or mlb.com to see the box scores. Keep your site sticky! Joseph Loftus Jr.

Frozen out

Kew Gardens: I shop often at the CVS in Forest Hills. I noticed the ice cream freezers are padlocked. When I asked about why the ice cream was padlocked I was told by the store manager it was because of theft by children. The store is bar coded so you can’t just pass through the doors without an alarm going off. I wonder if all CVS stores have padlocked freezers. The ice cream thieves don’t seem to know about prison.

Congress of fools

Whiting, N.J.: Gee, now that Congress has gone through most, if not all, of the Social Security funds, will they finally start borrowing from their own pensions? I highly doubt it. It’s just like when they voted for Obamacare because it was so wonderful; everyone who voted for it should have had to use it and give up their insurance that we pay for.

Denise Tarantino Flushing: It makes me laugh when these idiots in Congress get up there and talk to us like they’re doing us some great favor by spending our money so incompetently, and it’s both parties. Sen. Rand Paul was spot-on with his assessment of what is going on. You would never run your business or household this way; it just wouldn’t work. People in this country better wake up and stop giving their representatives a free pass every election before it’s too late. I fear it may be too late already. God help America!

Medical injustice at Rikers

Bronx: Re “Inmate’s futile cry” (Jan. 23): My husband, Mohamed Awawdeh, recently had a spinal fusion and on Thursday was placed in a regular jail on Rikers Island and not in a medical unit. He was in a rehab center when he was arrested due to a bench warrant he had. I faxed the judge the medical documents that he was admitted in the hospital and she ignored this. One of the top surgeons at University Hospital performed this surgery and still this judge doesn’t care. He has not been able to bathe nor can he go to eat meals because he is in a wheelchair with not enough upper body strength to wheel himself around. His spinal fusion has not fused yet and still he was left alone with no physical therapy or assistance by any nurses or doctors. He has been crying out with pain and he is a diabetic with very bad high blood pressure. He was also wearing a “FALL RISK” wristband and it was cut off and removed, because it’s not accepted there. I will keep looking for answers to this injustice and inhuman living condition.

Tusha Diaz Bronx: I wonder what Trump’s new name will be for Omarosa now that she no longer believes in him. Yolanda Rojas

Hush, hush

Great Neck, L.I.: Apparently, chief of staff Gen. John Kelly is still adhering to the military policy of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” in the White House.

End domestic violence

Ledyard, Conn.: Abuse of power, rightfully so, has been in the headlines. Violators should be identified, given due process, and brought to justice. The problem we have in America is that we often bring a problem to a level where people feel oversaturated and interest drops off the cliff. Change takes work. America needs to be proactive, not always reactive. How do we avoid bringing up the next generation of abusers and victims? First, we need to take a look at the social and political climate that supports the problem. Next, I am positive if we looked at television shows, movies and internet videos we would see the next generation being given at best mixed messages about appropriate interpersonal boundaries and relationships. For example, how many times do we see a man grope a woman, she slaps him, and the laugh track roars? Parents need to talk to their kids about these messages and be good role models. The media need to quit championing a cause and then acting the hypocrite. We need to work together to raise a generation that shows complete respect for others. We need to teach them to resist pressure to do things when they don’t feel comfortable in a relationship and to speak up. Let’s work together for change. Lisa Allen

War and peace

Brooklyn: Remember the good old days when Nobel Peace Prizes and military parades were given when one ended a war?

Johnny T. Sollitto

A serious matter

GETTY Laurelton: Voicer Jay Hirsch’s diatribe about sleep apnea and his conflating it with the “Twinkie defense” is the most profoundly ignorant item that’s been in Voice of the People in a very long time. Hirsch should educate himself on the causes, effects and treatments of sleep apnea. Perhaps he will then comprehend that dealing with this medical condition in the work environment in the same manner as alcohol abuse or drug abuse is a specious and cruel proposition. Will Lertola
