Chevy Chase kicked in Tappan Zee road rage

HE’S CHEVY CHASE, and you’re not. . . going to cut him off in traffic, OK?

Chase (photo) took a kick to the shoulder during a Feb. 9 road rage incident after the “Caddyshack” star followed another vehicle across the Tappan Zee Bridge, state police said.

Chase, who lives in nearby Bedford, told cops that he was behind the wheel of his 2015 Dodge Ram truck on Interstate 87 when another vehicle driven by a 22-yearold Long Island man zipped in front of him.

The 74-year-old former “Saturday Night Live” star chased down the other driver, flashing his headlights as they crossed the bridge over the Hudson River.

Chase said he thought the other vehicle had clipped his truck. The two vehicles pulled over at Exit 10 in South Nyack, where the drivers exchanged words before things escalated.

According to the younger driver, he kicked at Chase when the comedian uncorked a punch in his direction. The volatile Chase, according to a report by TMZ.com, insisted someone inside the car started the trouble by greeting him with an extended middle finger. “If I were a lot younger I’d bust your nose,” Chase declared in the TMZ version of what happened. At that point, someone inside the car knocked Chase to the ground with a kick to his shoulder.

Chase has done battle in the past with Dan Harmon, creator of the sitcom “Community,” along with shock jock Howard Stern and former “Saturday Night Live” castmate Bill Murray.

The Long Islander was given a ticket for second-degree harassment, and is due in South Nyack court on March 5.

Chase exploded into prominence in SNL’s debut season of 1985 before going on to star in films like “National Lampoon’s Vacation,” “Fletch” and “Three Amigos!”
