The Bronx Charter School for Children
The Bronx Charter School for Children (BCSC), located in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the South Bronx, is a well-established school currently serving 432 students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. BCSC staff take seriously the challenge of providing a rigorous elementary academic program in a safe and nurturing environment, instilling habits of inquiry and critical thinking in all its scholars. Additionally, our scholars participate daily in Enrichment classes such as art, physical education, music, technology (in its own studio), and science (in its own lab). Scholars regularly participate in field lessons that are extensions of concepts and lessons learned in school. Graduates of BCSC are accepted into top performing middle schools, high schools and colleges.
BCSC employs three full-time ENL teachers to support targeted group instruction focused on English acquisition. The school uses the Integrated Co-Teaching model to support scholars with an IEP in an inclusive environment. In addition to a strong academic program, BCSC prides itself on being a community school that values family and community partnerships. Our Family Support Team works with families to provide necessary resources for them to learn and grow. BCSC families consider the school a second home.
We are now accepting applications to fill available spaces in grades K-5. Applications are available online (www.tbcsc.org) or by calling (718) 402-3300. The deadline to apply is April 1st, 2018.
