EVEN IN retirement, disgraced former NYPD sex crimes Lt. Adam Lamboy is trouble.

The ex-commander of the Manhattan special victims unit — whose career imploded over a boozy weekend in Seattle with a rape victim — was busted last year, the Daily News has learned.

The charge? Impersonating a sex crimes commander.

Lamboy, 47, found himself in cuffs after pretending to be a cop and demanding a female student’s schedule at Hostos Community College in the Bronx on Feb. 24, 2017, court records show.

He allegedly showed what appeared to be an NYPD identification card and introduced himself as “Lt. Muranch,” according to court records.

“I followed her on the train from Queens,” he told a campus peace officer, court papers said.

“She is part of an investigation I am conducting.”

The peace officer, Nelson Colon, got suspicious and called the Manhattan special victims unit to confirm Lamboy’s identity.

He was told nobody from that office had ever visited Hostos Community College, the court records show.

Colon filed a police report, but it took until August for Lamboy to be arrested.

The student, who asked that her name not be used, said the bizarre incident was unnerving.

“I never knew why he followed me,” she told The News. “They showed me pictures. They showed me photos where he’s wearing a police uniform. I told them that no, I have never seen him before. …But to use his old police title, it’s not right.”

Cops even asked her if she was having an affair with Lamboy. She said absolutely not.

Lamboy’s lawyer Jeffrey Rizzo denied Lamboy used a fake name.

“He has a retired lieutenant card and that’s the only thing that he showed when he went into the building,” Rizzo said, adding that Lamboy was conducting a surveillance operation for an insurance firm.

As for “Lt. Muranch,” he said, “I really think it’s a misunderstanding.”

Lamboy is infamous in the NYPD for a 2013 incident in which he flew to Seattle to interview a rape victim with his partner. The two cops took the victim out drinking at local bars and the partner allegedly made a pass at her.
