Mickey Callaway’s message of change apparently has not filtered down to Yoenis Cespedes, when it comes to the slugger’s relationship with the media.
Video of a Cespedes (Tuesday) media session being cut short (which aired Wednesday on SNY’s “Baseball Night in New York”) was proof positive. The subject was the mystery surrounding Cespedes’ right wrist (he received a cortisone shot to dull the pain). And when the session started getting juicy it was abruptly terminated.
Did Cespedes tell Mets PR he only had a limited amount of time?
Or did Mets staffers pull the plug because they didn’t want to prolong any psychic discomfort Cespedes may have been experiencing?
It doesn’t really matter. This was a terrible look for Cespedes and only added to the mystery surrounding his wrist. Seamhead sources say Cespedes usually picks and chooses when he will speak with boss scribes. They don’t see that policy changing.
