MLK’s kin carries on his dream

- BY RICH SCHAPIRO

MARTIN LUTHER KING Jr.’s granddaughter channeled the famed civil rights activist in a brief but electrifying appearance at Saturday’s March For Our Lives rally in Washington, D.C.

“My grandfather had a dream that his four children would not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character,” 9-year-old Yolanda King announced to a crowd of thousands.

“I have a dream that enough is enough, and that this should be a gun-free world. Period.”

The child’s remarks drew thunderous applause from the throng of mostly young people who flocked to the nation’s capital to urge lawmakers to take action against gun violence.

Yolanda (photo, above) then led the crowd in a rousing chant: “Spread the word, have you heard, all across the nation, we are going to be a great generation.”

The adorable child stood side by side with Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School junior class president Jaclyn Corin, who called the MLK scion to the stage.

In a TV interview, Yolanda, who was born 40 years after her grandfather was assassinated, imagined what King would have thought of the massive anti-gun rally in the nation’s capital.

“He would probably be amazed that all of the people are getting together,” Yolanda told CNN.

She went on to describe having a dream about her grandfather just a few days ago.

In the dream, King suddenly came alive inside a museum and was soon surrounded by reporters and cameras.

“I think that his message was to remember that he is always with me,” Yolanda said.
