KATHY’S COMEBACK – CONFIDENTIAL:
CONTROVERSIAL comic Kathy Griffin says the backlash over her infamous Trump photo last year continues. The 57-year-old performer told Confidential that she’s been informed by law enforcement that there are still active death threats against her. Last May, the standup comic (inset) posted a video of herself holding a mask styled to look like the severed head of President Trump. A disastrous press conference followed, all part of what she called a surreal experience. The redheaded funny gal says she was simultaneously being investigated by the feds, threatened with jail time, and “on the other hand, I had the FBI calling and telling me that I was under credible death threats.” Not to mention she honestly believed that her decades-old career was over. But instead, Griffin embarked on her first overseas tour playing 15 countries and has now returned stateside for her cheekily entitled tour, “Laugh Your Head Off.” The tour, which will include Carnegie Hall, sold out in 24 hours. Griffith sounded relieved and grateful for the outpouring of support during a phone interview. “I sent out a tweet the other day that was real honest, saying I didn’t know what my future was with this f---ing sonofabitch coming afer me and the clown car of a------s,” she says. “Not to mention the family with the grown sons, Eric and Don Jr... Who gives a s--anymore? They’re all psychos.”
Griffin says that in her new show she will walk the audience through the whole bizarre experience including reading one of the many death threats.
She is also no longer friends with longtime pal and New Year’s Eve broadcast partner
Anderson Cooper after he blasted her when the photo was released. “He threw me under the bus, ding ding,” she said. She’s reserving judgment on friend Ryan Seacrest, who has been accused of sexual harassment. “It’s important that Ryan’s accuser is heard and believed but what I’m seeing happen with Ryan is what I’ve seen my whole career,” she said. “The ABC machine comes in and covers his ass and the ‘American Idol’ machine comes in and covers his ass . . . I’m not going to accuse Ryan of something I don’t know of but I’m also not going to have his back. He’s fine and wouldn’t p--s on me if I was on fire.”
