MOORE’S ICKY SURPRISE
NO MOORE, please. Oscar-winner Julianne Moore was stopped in her tracks by a painting depicting an orgy involving President Trump, Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby and Kevin Spacey — all of whom have been accused of multiple acts of sexual misconduct. “You could see her head whip around,” according to one art fan. “She did a double take.” Moore (inset) was attending the Tribeca Ball fund-raiser for the New York Academy of Art when she saw the work, “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” by Angela China. It was inspired by Picasso’s 1907 masterpiece “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon,” which is part of the Museum of Modern Art’s collection. Moore, who has worked with Weinstein on films including “The Hours,” has expressed hope that the disgraced movie mogul would be forced to answer to the dozens of allegations against him when reports of his alleged sexual misconduct broke in October. “I hope that he’s prosecuted for some of these things,” she told NBC News. “I hope that some of the charges stand.” China is selling the piece for $30,000. She was at the event, but didn’t meet Moore.
“I didn’t speak to her, but she probably knows this story better than any of us,” the painter told a source. While Moore personally isn’t one of Weinstein’s accusers, she counts herself among the three dozen women to have claimed that filmmaker James Toback exhibited sleazy behavior toward her. Toback denies any wrongdoing.
China said that she’s considering offering her painting to amfAR for the charity’s May 17 gala in Cannes, France, to combat AIDS. AmfAR has looked to distance itself from former supporters Weinstein and shoe designer Kenneth Cole due to questionable fund-raising activities involving the pair, which led to Cole’s resignation as a board member in February. Hot-newish couple Naomi Watts and
Billy Crudup were also in attendance at the New York Academy of Art event, “refusing to be photographed together,” according to an attendee who tried to snap a shot. Brooke
Shields was also on hand carrying a walking stick, which we’re told was the result of recent knee surgery.
