Celtics top Bucks, Raptors thump Wizards for 2-0 leads

BOSTON — Jaylen Brown scored a playoff career-high 30 points and the Celtics pulled away in the second half to earn a 120-106 victory over the Bucks and a 2-0 series edge on Tuesday night.

Terry Rozier added 23 points for Boston. Game 3 is set for Friday in Milwaukee.

The Celtics led by as many as 20 in the fourth quarter.

Milwaukee got as close as 107-97 with 4:13 to play, but the Celtics responded with an 11-2 run, capped by a banked in 3-pointer by Brown to push their lead back up to 118-99.

l In Toronto, DeMar DeRozan matched his career playoff-high with 37 points, Jonas Valanciuna­s notched 19 points and 14 rebounds and the Raptors beat the Wizards, 130-119, to take a 2-0 lead in a playoff series for the first time in franchise history.

Toronto set a team playoff record with 44 points in the first quarter, including 13 from DeRozan, and led 44-27 after one.

l Jrue Holiday scored a career playoffhig­h 33 points and the visiting Pelicans took a 2-0 lead in their first-round playoff series against the Trail Blazers with a 111-102 victory.

Brayden McNabb scored 4:04 into the second period off assists from William Karlsson and Reilly Smith and the expansion Golden Knights hung on for a 1-0 victory and a first-round series sweep of the Kings in Los Angeles.

l Lars Eller scored in the second overtime period and the visiting Capitals beat the Blue Jackets, 3-2, in Game 3 to tighten up the their first-round playoff series.

After Columbus won the first two games — both in overtime — in Washington, it was the Capitals’ turn to prevail in OT. Eller tapped a rebound past Sergei Bobrovsky 9 minutes into the second extra period for his first goal in the playoff series.

l Mark Scheifele scored both goals for Winnipeg and Connor Hellebuyck made 30 saves for his seventh shutout this season as the Jets beat the host Wild, 2-0, to take a 3-1 lead in the first-round playoff series.

Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey delivered a cross-check to Eric Staal’s jaw that went unnoticed by the officials, drawing the ire of the fans and a red-faced Wild coach Bruce Boudreau.

Now the series shifts back to Winnipeg, with Game 5 on Friday night.
