Odell will be in Blue

and potentially damage the progress they appear to have made. But Shurmur said he and Beckham even had a one-on-one conversation Monday to make sure he and his best player were on the same page.

“We constantly communicate,” Shurmur said. “We had a great talk yesterday. He came in and we sat down as we were getting ready for this minicamp so we could talk about what we were trying to get accomplished. We’ve spoken on the phone. We text. It’s like any relationship. We’re very honest and open with one another, and we communicate frequently.”

Beckham isn’t cleared completely in his left ankle rehab from surgery last October so he won’t be participating in practices to start.

“He’s going through his rehab to get fully cleared, so he was able to be involved in a walk-through,” Shurmur said. “But as we get going here competitive, full-speed, he won’t be able to participate this afternoon.”

But fellow wide receiver Sterling Shepard wasn’t worried about Beckham’s ability to return to full strength.

“I don’t think he’ll have a problem,” Shepard said with a smile. “I mean, if you’ve seen the videos of him running around, he looks good to go right now. I think the training room they’re kind of saving him from himself right now. He wants to get out and run around and do a whole bunch of stuff, but they’re kind of holding him back. But I’ve been with him training a little bit, and to be honest, I forget that he got hurt sometimes.”

Beckham on Monday even posted a video of one recent workout in which he was pulling a GMC truck down the street with a rope while sitting on the blacktop.

“Uh, I definitely have not been pulling any trucks,” Shepard joked. “Been working out pretty good, though.”

Shepard admitted it’s been great to have Beckham around the facility, though.

“I mean you can tell a difference around the facility whenever that guy’s in the building,” Shepard said. “You get a happy feeling. He’s always making people laugh everywhere he goes, so it’s good to have him in the building.”

Ereck Flowers continues to be MIA.

The Giants offensive tackle was absent from the start of voluntary minicamp on Tuesday while a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport surfaced that the Giants were engaging in trade discussions for him.

Flowers has not attended any voluntary workouts since April 9 and is the only player on the current roster who has yet to show up to any offseason team activities.

“He’s not here, so there really isn’t much to say,” Pat Shurmur said. “We understand this is a program that’s voluntary; I tend to believe it’s very necessary. But he’s not here. When he is here we’ll start to talk about him.”

The Giants had informed Flowers, their 2015 first-round draft pick, that he would be moved to right tackle and compete for a starting spot in training camp after they signed free-agent left tackle Nate Solder in the offseason.

Yet the 23-year-old has managed to become an early distraction for the new Giants regime.

Defensive end Olivier Vernon told reporters with a straight face that he saw Flowers earlier on Tuesday before the Daily News learned he was joking.

Solder, who is still becoming acclimated to his new team, also had to answer questions about a teammate he has not even met.

“I don’t know him. I don’t know what’s going on,” Solder said. “I’m not going to talk about who’s here or not here, but the guys who are here have been working hard.”

Flowers has one year remaining on his rookie contract and is guaranteed $4.5 million for the upcoming season, so he will be difficult to move.

The Giants are reportedly seeking draft compensation for Flowers, but would likely only manage a lateround pick in return.

Last year, the Lions traded offensive tackle Greg Robinson to the Rams and got a 2018 sixthround pick in return, but they were not able to move him until after the 2017 draft.

If Flowers’ contract were not a big enough hurdle, there is extra baggage.

Aside from being a no-show for voluntary workouts and minicamp, he has also been an enigma off the field.
