SINK-O DE MAYO

Adele’s ‘Titanic’ berg-day party stirs up some ship

‘ROLLING IN the Deep” singer Adele took her love for “Titanic” to new depths with a “Titanic”-themed 30th birthday party — but the fete gave some a sinking feeling. The hitmaker, a “super fan” of the 1997 James Cameron flick, pulled out all the stops for her Saturday night soirée, modeling her look after Kate Winslet’s character Rose, posing on a grand staircase resembling the one in the film and at times wearing a life preserver.

“Dirty 30! I’m not sure what I’m going to do for the next 30 years as I’ve been blessed beyond words in my life so far. Thank you to everyone for coming along for the ride the last 11 years with me,” Adele wrote on Instagram.

“My family and friends for entertaining my super fandom of the Titanic movie. Last night was the best night of my life.”

Attendees included DJ Zane Lowe, who donned a tuxedo and cane, DJ Mark Ronson, who sported ice on his hair and eyelashes as a member of the ship’s doomed string quartet, and actor Aaron Paul and

Adele’s party theme was clearly focused on the glitz and glamor of the Oscar-winning movie, but some just couldn’t let their hearts go past thinking about the ill-fated ocean liner that hit an iceberg and sank in the early hours of April 15, 1912, killing more than 1,500 people.

“I’m sorry but Titanic themed party Adele? What’s next? 9/11, Grenfell? That was a horrific tragedy and time passing doesn't make it more acceptable,” one user wrote on Twitter, referencing the attacks on the World Trade Center and the London tower fire that left 71 dead last June.

“Isn’t this kinda/very inappropriate? Adele’s Titanic themed birthday party had them dancing in life jackets . . . Thousands of people actually died,” another wrote. “I adore Adele, but that doesn’t mean I can’t look at this objectively and see it for what it is; inappropriate.”
