HE IS NOT A CROOK

A LONG ISLAND politician was acquitted of corruption charges Thursday in an alleged kickback scheme with connections to Mayor de Blasio.

Former Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto was found not guilty on all 27 charges, including accusations that restaurateur Harendra Singh bribed him in exchange for lucrative town contracts and agreements to back Singh’s loans.

Jurors decided Venditto, 68, was not guilty after deliberating for five days.

“Mr. Venditto, you are excused,” Federal Judge Joan Azrack told him.

The panel is still mulling charges against ex-Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano, 56, and his wife, Linda, 54. Venditto and Mangano are both Republicans.

Federal prosecutors had said Singh lavished Venditto and his family with free meals and limo rides in order to stay in the public official’s good graces and keep a hold on concession agreements.

Venditto denied the bribery charges. He countered that after knowing of an initial agreement to back Singh’s loans, ensuing deals were done behind his back between Singh and a corrupt town underling.

Singh was the government’s star witness after pleading guilty in 2016 to bribing officials, including de Blasio.

The mayor has not been charged with any crime and denied any wrongdoing.

On Thursday, Venditto’s law- yer, Marc Agnifilo, said, “The government threw the sink” at Venditto. But jurors “realized he was innocent. We couldn’t be happier.”

“I knew he was innocent from the first day I met him,” Agnifilo told reporters.

“It was just a matter of me going out and bringing the evidence to the jury’s attention. And we did that.”

Venditto served two decades as Oyster Bay’s top elected official until his 2017 resignation.

He said the trial was a conspiracy to unseat his son Michael, a state senator.

“A couple of weeks before an election where he’s up by 20 points, they indict me to take out my son,” Venditto told reporters.

“Somebody’s got to answer for that somewhere down the line.”

Michael Venditto lost the election after his father’s arrest.

Mangano has been accused of receiving bribes and kickbacks to help Singh obtain guaranteed loans.

Mangano’s wife was charged with accepting a $450,000 noshow job.

The Manganos say they were longtime friends with Singh and that any favors were personal, not political.

Jurors had told the judge they are deadlocked. Deliberations are expected to continue Friday.

Mangano has been charged with bribery, wire fraud and securities fraud.

Linda Mangano has been charged with conspiracy to obstruct justice, obstruction of justice and making false statements to the FBI.
