Cannabis CEO: I’m blowing this joint
The embattled CEO of a marijuana company who was caught on video threatening to call cops on an 8-year-old girl selling water has stepped down.
Alison Ettel, who has been ridiculed as "Permit Patty" online, resigned from Treatwell Health, a spokesperson said Tuesday.
"Our sole focus, as a company is to enrich, heal, and preserve the 1000's of lives of those patients in need," the California company wrote in a statement. "We do not seek forgiveness for the act, rather we accept the fact that a very poor decision was made."
The company added that it is Ettel's wish that employees and patients should not suffer "because of a situation that occurred in an escalated moment."
At least six businesses cut ties with the cannabis company after Ettel's confrontation with the girl and her mother in San Francisco on Friday. Video of the incident has been viewed more than 1.3 million times on Instagram.
A remorseful Ettel has said she was only pretending to call the police, and added that the girl and her mother were "screaming about what they were selling," according to HuffPost.
