Suitcase brings scare at Macy’s

- Graham Rayman, Thomas Tracy

A red suitcase found in front of Macy’s Herald Square sparked a bomb scare and forced the brief closure of W. 34th St. outside the iconic department store Tuesday, officials said.

The unattended luggage was sitting in front of the store on W. 34th St. near Seventh Ave. about 11 a.m., cops said.

Responding officers shut down W. 34th St. as the NYPD Bomb Squad was called in to investigate. Police quickly learned that the suitcase contained someone’s personal belongings — not explosives, officials said.
