Oooo, please Rescue me!

- Thomas Tracy

It's a four-alarm feast for the eyes!

The FDNY is launching its 2019 Calendar of Heroes with another crop of beefy and beautiful offerings.

“It's a great feeling (being in the calendar),” Bronx Emergency Medical Technician Kirsten Bernard, 24, said about being the cover girl for the double sided calendar — one side for men, the other for women. ”It's great to know that I put in a lot of work and now I'm representing the FDNY.”

Bernard, who is assigned to the EMS communications bureau, lost 50 pounds in February when her colleagues recommended she go to the calendar casting call. Now she's the calendar's cover girl, making everyone's pulse quicken as she lounges out on the hood of an ambulance.

She hopes the calendar will inspire young women to join the department.

“I'm a strong believer that a girl can do anything a guy can do," she said. "There are no girl job and there is no guy job. I want to show them that females can do the same things that guys can do.”
