Tragic Bx. bodega to reopen

- BY JOHN ANNESE

The Bronx bodega where Lesandro (Junior) Guzman-Feliz desperately sought shelter before a group of gangbangers stabbed him to death in June has been sold and will reopen under new owners, according to a report.

Speaking to PIX-11, NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan said that the Cruz and Chiky Grocery in Belmont, which has been shuttered since the 15year-old’s murder on June 20, was recently sold.

Bronx residents blasted the bodega, accusing its workers of doing nothing while a Trinitarios gang member pulled Lesandro out of the store.

In a teary-eyed interview days after the brutal machete attack, owner Modesto Cruz said he tried to save Lesandro’s life and hide him behind the counter, but the murderers spotted him and pulled him out of the store.

"We (were) scared at the moment. … What we could do?" he said.

He says he called 911 at 11:39 p.m.

“I spent four minutes with operator she was asking me too many questions. I say, ‘Please send the police, please send the police.’"

Lesandro’s gruesome stabbing, which was caught on video, shocked the city, and led to the arrest of a dozen Trinitarios members on murder charges.

The killers later said they confused Lesandro (photo) for another teenager, according to police sources and Facebook apologies allegedly sent by the killers.

The city medical examiner’s office released the teen’s official cause of death Wednesday — a stab wound to his neck.
