PARTS OF 1 VICTIM
Remains found in separate bags near Bx. park
The human remains found in two plastic trash bags outside a Bronx park belonged to the same woman, police sources said Saturday.
A city Parks Department worker made the grisly discovery Friday when he found the bags outside the southern edge of Crotona Park near Franklin Ave. about 2 p.m.
The body parts were of a light-skinned white or Hispanic woman in her 20s, said a police source.
Not all of the woman's body was recovered from the bags, said the source.
Investigators have the woman's head. Police have produced a sketch (inset) they hope will lead them to the woman's identity, the source said.
An autopsy has been slated to determine how she died.
The gruesome case is eerily similar to the death of Brandy Odom, a 26-year-old woman whose hacked-up remains were found strewn throughout a Brooklyn park in April.
A dog walker found Odom's head and torso in a wooded area in Canarsie Park — just a few blocks from a relative's apartment.
Cops also recovered the dead woman's severed limbs following an exhaustive search of the green space. A serrated blade, described as a small saw, was also found in a garbage can inside the park, cops said.
No arrests have been made in her death, although police questioned a man who lived with Odom in Rosedale, Queens. The man had made incriminating statements after Odom's death and was seen putting large plastic bags into his driveway before the body parts were found, police sources said.
Police have not linked the two discoveries, which occurred roughly 18 miles from each other.
