Forget what you heard: This Jets’ WR corps will make Darnold a better QB

with the quarterback. On the other hand, the last thing receivers want to do is make life harder for a 21-yearold with a million things already swimming around his head.

“As a young guy, he has so much on his plate right now,” Enunwa said. “For me to be like, ‘Hey, throw me the ball,' I would hate to do that. Then he throws it to me in the wrong situation. So, I try to let the flow of the game go. I know personally that if I'm making plays, the coaches will be like, ‘Hey, get it to him in this situation.' … So that's what I've been doing all camp. Even if I know the ball is not coming to me, I try to fly down the field just so they know that he may have looked it this way, but next time he might be able to look my way.”

“In the game, that's where (emotions) flare up,” Enunwa added. “You might feel like saying something. But I try to be smart, because I know that the team is pretty good about getting everybody the ball and spreading it around.”

Two-thirds of Darnold's 21 targets against the Lions went to wide receivers. Anderson showed his young quarterback that he can catch over defenders (see: 41-yard TD). Enunwa, who had team highs in targets, catches and yards in Week 1, exhibited his versatility and toughness. Darnold had a 123.8 passer rating when targeting Enunwa in the blowout win. He'll have one more option this week with Kearse, who will return after missing the season opener due to injury.

“It's just continuing to get used to each other — used to the speed, what a certain guy is going to do on a certain route in terms of option routes and all that kind of stuff,” Darnold said. “How they are running a seam. How they might run an over route. Every guy is kind of different and I'm just trying to get a feel of that. The faster I do that, the faster the ball is going to move.”

Darnold insisted that his receivers are “never crying for the ball.”

“I don't think we have any divas,” he said.

Imagine how good Darnold will be this season because of his wide receivers.
