Cops have arrested a 17-yearold they say shot his stepfather to death during a brutal Brooklyn beatdown.

Devin Corbin was trying to stop his stepfather from beating his mother when the two began trading blows inside a Red Hook East Houses apartment at 11:40 p.m. on Friday, police sources said.

During the fisticuffs, Corbin grabbed a gun and opened fire, hitting his stepfather, 30, in the back, sources said.

“I heard the shots and I came out, and I saw the man who was shot,” said one building resident, who didn’t want to be named. Five shots were heard, he said.

“I seen (the victim) laying on the floor, near the steps,” he said.

Responding officers found the victim sprawled out on the fourth-floor hallway inside the Hicks St. building near Mill St.

“The cops and everything were here,” the stunned neighbor said. “The EMS was trying to resuscitate him.”

Medics took the stepdad to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he died.

His name was not immediately released.

Corbin and a second person were taken in for questioning.

On Saturday, detectives charged Corbin with murder in the second degree and weapons possession. His arraignment was pending late Saturday.

Neighbors described Corbin as a quiet teen who wasn’t prone to violence.

“He seems like a nice kid. He says hello to everyone,” a second neighbor said. “Very respectful.”

“He had to be defending his mother,” the neighbor said. “Oh my God, it’s so sad.” The teen had been arrested in May on an assault charge, but the assault wasn’t considered domestic, officials said.
