IT’S JUST ‘BULLS--T’

McGowan rails at #MeToo movement she helped ignite

- BY RACHEL DESANTIS

Rose McGowan was one of the most vocal supporters of the #MeToo movement upon its resurgence last fall, but the former actress now says she sees #MeToo as nothing but “bulls---t.”

McGowan, 45, became closely associated with the movement last October, when she went on the record for the first time accusing Harvey Weinstein of raping her in a hotel room in 1997 and subsequently blacklisting her career.

But in the year since, the “Charmed” star says she’s been all but shunned by her fellow Hollywood elite, telling The Sunday Times that she hasn’t received support from any women’s organizations, including the #MeToo campaign, and is not invited to organized lunches or survivors’ brunches.

“I just think they’re douchebags. They’re not champions. I just think they’re losers. I don’t like them,” she told the British newspaper. “And I don’t want to go, because it’s all bulls—t. It’s a lie. It’s a Band-Aid lie to make them feel better. I know these people, I know they’re lily-livered, and as long as it looks good on the surface, to them, that’s enough.”

McGowan said her disgust with Hollywood runs so deep that she’ll never act again and that while she doesn’t agree with the politics of President Trump’s supporters, she does agree with their view of Hollywood.

“They hate Hollywood for being faux liberals – and they’re 100% right about that. It’s a bunch of faux liberals,” she said. “It’s crap, and they know it is deep down, but they’re living an empty life, and to me that’s their punishment. They get to live the lives they live.”

She takes specific issue with Meryl Streep, who last year vehemently denied ever having any clue of Weinstein’s predatory behavior behind closed doors, and Hillary Clinton, too, whose friendship with Weinstein goes way back.

McGowan called out Streep once before for her denial, and doubled down in her interview with the Times, calling the notion that the Oscar-winning star was entirely in the dark “literally impossible.”

Meanwhile, she added that she rescinded her years of support for Clinton, as she believes it “not possible” for the Democrat to have been clueless as to Weinstein’s behavior.

“I would take my years of support back. Vociferious support. Even against Obama, I backed her,” she said, adding that she would consider running for office, but as a Republican, “just to f--k it up.”

McGowan, who is awaiting trial for cocaine possession that she claims was planted on her by a Weinstein operative, said that she thinks the only way justice will be served for Weinstein is if he’s locked up for life.

“Life in prison for all the lives he stole,” she said. “And maybe then I’ll have forgiveness, but not until then.”
