Rock-wielding creep bashes man in head in Central Park, bikes away
A brute bludgeoned a man with a rock during an afternoon walk through Central Park, then nonchalantly fled the green space on a bicycle, officials said.
Police on Friday released a sketch of the assailant, whose victim remained in the hospital with a head injury, according to sources.
The victim, 53, and a woman were walking through the park near East Drive and E. 106th St. about 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 22 when the suspect crept up from behind and struck him in the head with a rock.
The assailant ran to a nearby bike, jumped on and pedaled out of the park, witnesses told police.
Medics rushed the victim to Mount SinaiSt. Luke’s Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
Sources with knowledge of the case said the victim remained in the hospital Friday.
No arrests have been made.
