Fails to name bike path vics

Mayor de Blasio botched a tribute to victims of last year’s Halloween truck attack, forgetting to recite their names after honoring their memories at a solemn riverside ceremony Wednesday.

The mayor had to apologize to the assembly after denouncing the terrorism responsible for the deaths of eight people mowed down by a rental truck along a West Side Highway bike path.

The crowd of victims’ families and friends had to gather again as de Blasio read names and bowed his head in a moment of silence.

The mayor noted that despite the truck assault, nearly 1 million people still came out that night for the annual Village Halloween Parade, just blocks from where the attack took place.

“Instead of living in fear, people came out in droves to show that they would not be moved, they would not be changed, they would not be intimidated,” de Blasio said, one year after an ISIS devotee in a rented truck jumped a curb along the West Side Highway and picked off pedestrians and bike riders. “New Yorkers do not allow themselves to be terrorized.” But the damage was already done. “The mayor’s comments about solidarity for New Yorkers, they run hollow,” said Hugh Hales-Tooke, a close friend of Monica Missio, whose son, Nicholas Cleves, was killed in the attack. “Nicholas Cleves was born and bred here. He loved this city. What was there about his life? His mother is devastated by this.”

Eight people were killed in what was the worst terror attack in the city since 9/11.

Even so, relatives of the victims said they were not given the respect they deserve.

Hales-Tooke said no elected officials reached out to the family in the weeks after the attack.

“The only person that reached out and sent her a note was Hillary Clinton, who wasn’t even in office at the time,” Hales-Tooke said. “He says that this attack has been in our hearts for a year. Really, do you believe that?”

He said Monica Missio, the still-grieving mother, was only notified about the Wednesday event Tuesday afternoon.

Sayfullo Saipov, 30, was charged with eight counts of murder in aid of racketeering for the bloody truck attack.

Prosecutors said Saipov rented the truck in New Jersey, crossed the George Washington Bridge and drove along the West Side Highway. After Saipov got to Houston St., he pulled the truck onto the pedestrian path and bike lane, striking numerous people before crashing into an occupied school bus near West and Chambers Sts., according to court records.

After smashing into the bus, Saipov bounded out of the flatbed, pulled out a pellet and a paintball gun, and chanted “Allahu Akbar,” or “God is great,” the feds allege. An NYPD officer shot and subdued Saipov.

Five of the victims were from Argentina, visiting the city to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their high school graduation.

The three other victims were from Manhattan, New Jersey and Belgium.
