Day in court for the letter bomb susp

- Stephen Rex Brown

The Florida strip club DJ accused of mailing letter bombs to President Trump's political enemies is due at a Manhattan court hearing Tuesday.

Cesar Sayoc's appearance in Manhattan Federal Court was revealed in a letter filed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sam Adelsberg.

Prosecutors intend to ask a judge to keep Sayoc behind bars without bail on the grounds that he's a flight risk and danger to the community, Adelsberg wrote.

Adelsberg also noted that last Friday, a 16th improvised explosive device was intercepted by law enforcement. The device was addressed to billionaire hedge funder and Democratic activist Tom Steyer — the second letter bomb sent to him by Sayoc, authorities said — and nearly identical to others Sayoc mailed to prominent Trump critics.

According to Adelsberg's letter, Sayoc searched on the internet for Steyer's address on Oct. 23.

“Although the government's investigation is ongoing, the evidence gathered to date demonstrates the dangerousness of the defendant and creates significant incentives for him to flee,” Adelsberg wrote.

Sayoc had been held in Florida since his arrest near Fort Lauderdale on Oct. 26. He's accused of sending crude bombs to Trump's nemeses, most of them Democrats, including Hillary Clinton, California Rep. Maxine Waters, former President Barack Obama, exVice President Joe Biden, leftleaning philanthropist George Soros, CNN and Oscar-winner Robert De Niro, among others.

At the time of his arrest, Sayoc was living out of a van he'd plastered with pro-Trump stickers — and with crosshairs over many of his alleged targets.
