Trucker sliced by ‘Rambo’

- BY ELIZABETH ELIZALDE AND THOMAS TRACY

A man armed with a Rambo knife sliced a truck driver making a delivery during a road-rage clash in Brooklyn on Tuesday, authorities said.

Yijin Xu, 57, is facing assault and weapons possession charges in the slashing of Angel Martinez through the trailer’s open window on 13th St. near Second Ave. in Gowanus about 8:10 a.m.

Xu cut Martinez’s thumb, finger and leg before he ran back into his pickup truck and drove off, only to be arrested by Police Officers Bryan Jones and Ming Gin Wang about a block away.

“I was scared. I thought he was going to stab my stomach,” Martinez, 50, said about the encounter. “I did nothing to him for him to stab me.

“I just want the cops to put him in jail because people like him shouldn’t be out on the street,” said the driver, who was just finishing an iron delivery.

Witnesses told police Xu was trying to drive down 13th St., but Martinez’s trailer blocked his way. “When I was about to leave the crazy guy arrived,” Martinez said.

Xu (inset) tried to get around Martinez’s trailer, but didn’t have enough room on 13th St., which is peppered with loading bays for warehouses.

When a motorist ahead of Martinez asked both him and Xu to back up so he could depart, Xu went ballistic, Martinez remembered.

And when Xu got out of his pickup truck to demand Martinez move, the trailer driver threw a napkin at him, police said. Outraged, Xu ran back to his truck, grabbed his knife and attacked.

Xu’s arraignment at Brooklyn Criminal Court was pending Tuesday.

Doctors used seven stitches to close the gash in Martinez’s leg.
