Youths eyed in 7 other bias attacks
A pack of youths who threw a pipe through a synagogue window in Brooklyn are believed to be responsible for at least seven other hate crimes, police said Wednesday.
The menaces, between 12 and 14 years old, were caught on camera smacking a hat off an Orthodox Jewish boy's head (inset) and shoving a young girl, cops said.
About seven youths were seen hanging around the Volkan shul on Franklin Ave. near Myrtle Ave. in Williamsburg just before a pipe was hurled through a temple window at about 5:40 p.m. Saturday, police said. The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is eyeing the vandalism, though probers believe it may have been a case of criminal mischief, a spokesman said.
The vandalism came a day after police busted a former City Hall intern, on charges he scrawled “Hitler” and “Die Jew rats” on a Prospect Heights temple.
