Gins­burg breaks ribs in of­fice fall

Supreme Court Jus­tice Ruth Bader Gins­burg is re­cov­er­ing in a Wash­ing­ton hos­pi­tal af­ter break­ing three ribs in a fall Wed­nes­day at her of­fice.

The court re­leased a state­ment Thurs­day morn­ing say­ing the 85-year-old lib­eral ju­rist went home af­ter the fall, but went to Ge­orge Wash­ing­ton Univer­sity Hos­pi­tal af­ter ex­pe­ri­enc­ing dis­com­fort overnight.

The court went ahead Thurs­day with a cer­e­mony wel­com­ing Jus­tice Brett Ka­vanaugh to the bench.

Gins­burg broke two ribs in a fall in 2012, but re­turned to work shorty af­ter the in­jury. She has also had two prior bouts with can­cer and had a stent im­planted to open a blocked artery in 2014.
