Splashed hot oil on fam­ily, started fire

A man with ap­par­ent men­tal prob­lems splashed rel­a­tives with siz­zling oil Fri­day, burn­ing his 2-month-old grand­son and spark­ing a fire in the fam­ily’s Bronx apart­ment, sources said.

Ri­cardo McDon­ald, 41, got into an ar­gu­ment with his daugh­ter, 19, and 18son, 18, shortly af­ter 10:30 a.m., and be­gan flick­ing them with with hot oil from a cook­ing pan, the sources said.

The daugh­ter was in the fam­ily’s liv­ing room hold­ing her 2-month-old boy, who was also burned, the sources said.

He then al­legedly ran to a back room of the home on E. 236th St. in Wake­field and spilled oil on other two women, ages 60 and 87, sources said.

Ev­ery­one tried to flee the fifth-floor apart­ment but were trapped by a fire sparked when McDon­ald tossed some hot oil on a couch, said au­thor­i­ties.

The vic­tims were taken to Mon­te­fiore Med­i­cal Cen­ter, along with a fire­fighter who suf­fered a mi­nor in­jury.

McDon­ald faces mul­ti­ple counts of at­tempted mur­der, as­sault and ar­son. He is be­ing held for psy­chi­atric eval­u­a­tion, cops said.
