Prez accuser: I’ll ax lawyer if he hit woman
Stormy Daniels threatened to dump Michael Avenatti if domestic violence allegations against the lawyer prove to be true.
The adult film star called the allegations, which led to Avenatti’s arrest, “very troubling,” in a statement to New York magazine on Thursday.
“These are serious and obviously very troubling allegations, but right now that is all they are: allegations,” Daniels told reporter Olivia Nuzzi. “We should all reserve judgment until the investigation — an investigation Michael has said he welcomes — is complete, and that’s what I’m going to do.
"But of course I do not condone violence against women, and if these allegations prove true, I will be seeking new representation,” she added.
Avenatti was cuffed by LAPD detectives and charged with felony domestic assault “on suspicion” that he beat up an unidentified woman on Tuesday, cops said.
The lawyer, who gained fame representing Daniels in a defamation lawsuit against President Trump, has denied the allegations.
“I have never struck a woman,” Avenatti said after being released late Wednesday.
Police didn’t immediately disclose details, but Officer Tony Im, an LAPD spokesman, said the victim has visible injuries.
Daniels’ friend and fellow adult film star Alana Evans told the Daily News she fears the allegations against Avenatti could affect her pal and urged her to fire him immediately.
“This is obviously reflecting really bad on him, but I think she’s going to get dragged into it as well," Evans said. “She needs to get rid of him.”
Evans pointed out that Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, has dealt with domestic abuse in her past.
Daniels’ ex-husband was arrested on domestic violence charges in July 2015 after he shoved her to the floor during a fight at their Texas home, according to a police report. The case ended up being dismissed, but Evans said it left her friend scarred.
