Susp in custody in Qns. double murder
A Queens man faces murder charges in the killing of a couple in an apartment they all shared, cops said Saturday.
Sai Chun Lam surrendered to detectives at the 109th Precinct stationhouse Saturday morning. His family turned him in, sources with knowledge of the case said.
Lam was charged with murdering Deyu Zhai, 64, and Chunfu Lu, 67, whose bodies were found by a neighbor in their apartment on 37th Ave. near 147th St. in Flushing on Wednesday.
Investigators believe the couple was fatally stabbed about 9 p.m. the night before, sources said.
Police sources said Zhai and Lu were trying to get Lam evicted. A few days before the killing, Lu and Lam got into a fistfight and were both charged with assault, cops said.
Neighbors told cops they often had arguments with themselves and Lam, who vanished right before Zhai and Lu were disovered.
Lam faces two counts of murder as well as counts of criminal weapons possession, police said.
