Body of man in only socks found in harbor off Staten I.

A dead man wearing nothing but socks was found floating in the water about a mile and a half from the Verrazano Bridge near Staten Island Sunday morning, authoritie­s said.

FDNY Marine 9 got the call just after 10 a.m. after a passerby saw the body near Bay and Front Sts. in Clifton, officials said.

The NYPD’s Harbor Unit took the body to shore. The man, believed to be in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Cops believe he was in the water for several days. The medical examiner will determine how he died.

Investigat­ors have not yet identified the man.
