Back with ‘grandma’ for holiday

- BY NANCY DILLON

Jamal Hinton and Wanda Dench served up their adorable Thanksgiving friendship again on Thursday, three years after their hilarious holiday text exchange went viral.

Dench, 61, thought she was texting her grandson when she mistakenly sent a message to Hinton in 2016, inviting him to her family’s Thanksgiving feast.

Hinton, then 17 years old, was understandably confused and asked Dench to send a selfie. They quickly realized the error, but Dench said Hinton was welcome to come over anyway.

Screenshots of their heartwarming exchange blew up online, garnering more than a 100,000 likes.

The fortuitous friends broke bread that Thanksgiving, then again last year and for a third time Thursday.

“Jamal is so awesome,” Dench told azfamily.com in an interview posted Thursday.

“Gaining a new grandma, I thought maybe I’d gain one getting married, but as a friend, it’s great,” Hinton said.
