1 dead, 1 hurt in Queens collision

A motorist died Friday night when he tried to jump a light at a busy Queens intersection.

The driver was headed east on Rockaway Blvd. in a white 2001 Nissan Sentra about 10:30 p.m. when he tried to turn left onto Guy R. Brewer Blvd. in Springfield Gardens.

A woman driving east in a 2015 BMW X5 slammed into the Nissan (above). A witness said the BMW had a green light.

The Nissan driver was declared dead at Jamaica Hospital. The BMW driver was taken to Jamaica with nonlife threatening injuries.
