Feds probe sex priests in Buffalo
The FBI has launched a wideranging investigation of pedophile priests in the Buffalo area, and the archdiocese’s role in covering up the abuse, according to reports.
Federal agents have spoken with multiple victims of clergy sexual abuse in Buffalo, even though many of the alleged sex crimes happened decades ago, according to the Buffalo News.
The victims said agents are interested in proving historical and ongoing cover-ups carried out by church leaders.
Agents are talking to potential witnesses, as well as abuse victims, the report said.
“Many of these incidents they are looking into are beyond the statute of limitations, but with all the cover-ups that have gone on for many decades, it would seem they could build some kind of case of obstructing justice or making false statements to federal agents,” Steven Cohen, who represents five people who say they were abused.
