Developer hit with 3 yrs. in Albany bribes
A Syracuse developer who bought off Gov. Cuomo’s former top aide was sentenced Friday to three years in prison.
Steve Aiello, the CEO of Cor Development, was convicted of funneling $35,000 in bribes to Cuomo’s former executive deputy secretary, Joseph Percoco.
“Aiello had bought-andpaid-for influence,” Judge Valerie Caproni said in Manhattan Federal Court.
She cited Aiello’s September 2015 “tantrum” demanding his son, Stevie Jr., get a raise on the taxpayers’ dime. At the time, Stevie Jr. had recently graduated college and worked in Cuomo’s executive chamber. Aiello didn’t think his son’s $56,000 salary was sufficient.
“I have been loyal as the day is long. They insult us like this. I’m finished!!! Everybody else gets what they need and want. I keep giving. It’s a sad statement!” Aiello whined in a text.
Percoco got the message and ordered a raise of $5,700 for Stevie Jr.
