Bullets in bedroom leave 1 dead, 2 hurt

A spurned lover’s rage erupted into a bloody shootout and suicide involving three Westchester County correction officers, authorities said Saturday.

Edward Quinoy, 40, of Sleepy Hollow, crept into the home of his exgirlfriend’s new lover on Buckingham Road in Yonkers about 11:30 p.m. Friday, confronting the pair, police said.

After arguing with the two, Quinoy opened fire, wounding both, cops said. The couple pulled their own handguns and returned fire.

As he lay bleeding, Quinoy apparently shot himself, officials said.

“(Quinoy’s) gunshot wound to the head may have been self-inflicted in an effort to commit suicide,” a Yonkers Police Department spokesman said.

Quinoy died at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.

The wounded couple were also taken to area hospitals, where they were in critical condition Saturday. Their names weren’t released.

The new boyfriend’s mother and a tenant were also in the home at the time of the bloodshed, but were uninjured, authorities said. The mother was in another room and called 911 when she heard gunfire, police said.

Cops identified Quinoy — who has been a Westchester Department of Correction officer since 2008 — as the ex-boyfriend of the wounded woman officer. He’d forced open a sliding back door to get into the house.

It wasn’t immediately clear when Quinoy and his ex broke up; “several” handguns were found at the scene, officials said.

In a statement, Westchester County Executive George Latimer said the privacy of the wounded correction officers would be respected as they “valiantly attempt to recover.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with these two correction officers and their fellow members of service during this extremely difficult time," Latimer said.

Yonkers police were still processing the home, which had been cordoned off, Saturday afternoon.
